HDTV Ratings: March 13
TV3’s NCIS posted its best ratings of the season Tuesday, when it narrowed the gap with TV2’s top-rating Go Girls and the final of TV One’s popular Frozen Planet.
Both of the TVNZ hits slipped with 25-54 year-olds, allowing NCIS, which guest starred ex-Charlie’s Angel Cheryl Ladd, to average 8.6% of this demographic.
It still lost to Girls’ and Planet’s 10.0% but was up nearly two points from the previous week whereas Planet’s making-of special dipped 1.4 points and Girls was down 2.6 points.
The trend was similar across all the demos, with NCIS’ biggest leap coming among household shoppers: it rated 10.3% versus 4.9% the previous week, with Girls taking a four-point hit.
NCIS: Los Angeles also was up sharply among HHS, and lesser so in the other demos in the face of tough competition from TV One’s Japan’s Tsunami Caught on Camera.
Viewership of TV2’s HD comedies also suffered, with Suburgatory experiencing the biggest exodus: it shed up to four points due to the impact of TV One’s MasterChef NZ and TV3’s Missing Pieces.
Like Missing Pieces, The Secret Life of Dancers was up and down, depending on the demo, averaging as few as 2.3% of 18-39 year-olds and as ‘many’ as 4.7% of HHS.
Shortland Street also was off last night, with 18.1% of HHS compared to 21.5% the previous week, and 16.0% of 18-39 year-olds versus 17.4%.
