HDTV Ratings: May 13-15

Last night's season-finale ratings were the icing on the cake for MasterChef NZ

MasterChef NZ’s Sunday night dominance ended last night with red-hot ratings for its season finale.

But TV3 could take heart from its drama line-up rising in popularity, on the back of sharply improved ratings for 60 Minutes in its new slot (albeit with current affairs rival Sunday being pre-empted for MasterChef).

Aging HD franchise CSI: Miami posted gains in all of the key demographics. It was up from 4.2% of 18-49 year-olds for last week’s season premiere to 6.2%; from 5% of 25-54 year-olds to 6.9%; and from 5.9% of household shoppers with kids to 9.5%.

HD lead-out The Good Wife’s ratings also climbed, from 2.8% of 18-49 to 3.9%; from 3.5% of 25-54 to 3.9%; and from 4.5% of HHS/kids to 5.3%.

Fans of TV2’s HD sitcom The Middle also appear to have discovered it’s back on, in a new slot, with ratings in the network’s target demo of 18-39 year-olds jumping from 10.3% the previous week to 13.4%.

It was up in the other key demos, too, with the biggest gain being HHS/kids, where it rocketed from 9.3% to 15.1% – and that was opposite the opening half-hour of MasterChef NZ.

TV3’s HD Saturday movie, a repeat of In Her Shoes, was competitive with TV One’s The Guardian but not TV2’s The Man.

TV3’s HD ITM Fishing Show seems to have lost its allure at 7pm, opposite TV One’s HD primary industry champ, Hyundai Country Calendar, while on Friday, TV3’s season finale of the late-night HD comedy, Come Fly With Me, won its slot in the 25-54 and HHS/kids demos and narrowly lost the 18-49 race to TV2 game show Distraction.
