HDTV Ratings: May 18-19
The popularity of TV2’s HD hit, Rescue 1, plummeted with household shoppers with kids last night, down from the previous week’s 24.8% to 16.7%.
This was partly due to TV One’s Coronation Street and TV3’s Wipeout rating higher in this demographic – but not enough to stop Rescue 1 from easily winning the 8pm slot.
Its ratings also declined in other key demos, but not as dramatically.
Viewership across the board was lower than the previous Thursday, with TV3’s Bones rating as low as 6.5% of 18-49 year-olds.
Wednesday’s season-three premiere of Sons of Anarchy couldn’t top 8% of 25-54 year-olds or 18-49 year-olds, losing to a repeat of Beyond the Darklands, but won its slot with HHS/kids (8.9%).
In its last 8.30pm Wednesday airing, Hawaii Five-0 drew 5% or fewer of the key demos while TV2’s HD sitcoms continued to dominate the 7.30pm-9.30pm period.
TV3’s Survivor: Redemption Island will need to redeem itself to continue 7.30pm Wednesdays, with this week’s episode rating as low as 3.1% of HHS/kids, 3.8% of 18-49 year-olds and 4% of 25-54 year-olds.
