HDTV Ratings: May 28-30
Wednesday’s premiere of TV3’s Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms made a road-worthy ratings debut.
Averaging 5.6%-8.6%, it improved on the season finale of The Almighty Johnsons and was most popular with 18-49 year-olds.
Indeed, with males 18-49 it rated 10.8%, beating not only TV One’s Undercover Boss but also TV2’s Happy Endings and even rivaling the popularity of The Big Bang Theory.
But in the key demographics, Bang and Endings dominated, although both were down from the previous week’s spectacular ratings.
TV3’s The GC, meanwhile, continues to rate consistently, averaging 8.0%-10.3% — enough to out-rate TV One’s Animal Rescue in the 18-39 and -49 demos while challenging TV2’s 2 Broke Girls.
At 9.30, Breakout Kings averaged 5.0%-5.9%, which was up slightly on its premiere, and see-sawed with Castle’s 3.5%-6.5%, although it lost to the latter in the 25-54 demo that both TV3 and TV One covet.
On Tuesday, TV One’s Intrepid Journeys won the 8.30 hour in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos but TV2’s GCB was tops in the 18-39 and household shoppers race.
The former averaged 7.4%-12.9% and the latter, 7.8%-13.1%.
NCIS’ Jamie Lee Curtis episode competed strongly, rating 7.6%-9.1% and among 18-49 year-olds was neck-and-neck with Intrepid Journeys.
Spin-off Los Angeles averaged 5.8%-7.7% and won or drew the 9.30 hour in every key demo except HHS.
TV2’s The Middle had another strong night, rating 12.3%-18.1% whereas Suburgatory averaged 10.6%-14.4% opposite Funny Roots’ 7.05%-8.4%.
On Monday’s TV3’s HD re-run of The Bank Job was competitive with TV One’s crime dramas and TV2’s soaps in every demo except HHS, where Desperate Housewives and Revenge easily had the advantage.
Criminal Minds narrowly won the 8.30 hour with 25-54 year-olds while at 7.30 Last Man Standing again was gunned down by the hour-long episode of Shortland Street but at 8.00 Modern Family remained competitive with The Force (although not Neighbours at War) in the 18-39 and -49 demos.
