HDTV Ratings: November 16-20
Ice Road Truckers kept up with The Joneses when the HD outdoors hours went head-to-head on Saturday.
TV One launched Keeping Up With the Joneses half-an-hour ahead of IRT and the outback reality hour had the edge where the two shows overlapped.
Overall, Joneses won the household shoppers and 25-54 demographics (9.6% versus 6.7% + 7.6% vs 6.6%), and IRT the 18-49 and 18-39 demos (5.6% vs 5.4% + 4.1% vs 2.9%).
More importantly for IRT, viewership in all of the demos except 18-39 was higher than for the season premiere.
TV3’s HD re-run of Fight Club of Saturday averaged 3.4%-4.2% of the major demos to finish behind TV2’s Scary Movie but ahead of TV One’s We Are Marshall (except among HHS/kids).
TV3’s Sunday HD premiere of 500 Days of Summer drew less than half the audience of TV2’s SD debut of Did You Hear About the Morgans? but out-rated the latest Sherlock mystery on TV One.
Raising Hope again finished third in its slot, except with 18-39 year-olds, and drew roughly a third of TV2’s HD dynamo Mike & Molly and The Middle.
TV3 strengthened its Friday night ratings with The Graham Norton Show typically drawing three-to-four times as many viewers as chat show rival Jonathan Ross.
The X Factor largely won the second half of its slot but is down sharply on what it used to average on Fridays.
Now Thursday’s X Factor is more popular. It was competitive with TV2’s reality shows across the board while lead-out Rove LA retained most of its audience.
Friday’s The Bachelor averaged 3.9%-8.2% for TV2 but even at its most popular was still well behind Norton and 7 Days.
TV3’s HD Wednesday partners-in-crime, Underbelly: Razor and The Borgias, have arrested their declines but are still being decisively out-rated by TV One’s HD hit, Harry’s Law, which averaged 6.2%-7.9% of older demos and HHS/kids.
