HDTV Ratings: November 23-27
It wasn’t just John Key who was on a roll at the weekend – so, too, was TV3, which won Friday and Saturday nights outright, and dominated the 18-49 ratings on Sunday.
TV3’s election night coverage was more popular than TV One’s on Saturday while its HD premiere of It’s Complicated on Sunday was a big hit with household shoppers, averaging 12.7% compared to Zombieland’s 9.2% on TV2.
Zombieland had the edge with older demographics – 9.9% of 25-54 vs 9.2% for Complicated, 11% of 18-49 vs 9.1% — but TV3 still had more 18-49 support for the night overall, with 60 Minutes out-rating TV One’s Sunday and TV2’s HD sitcom, The Middle.
And with TV2’s target audience, 18-39 year-olds, 60 Minutes averaged the same as The Middle: 9.1%.
Meanwhile, TV3’s Raising Hope averaged 5.1%-5.7% of the age demos, and with 18-39s, only two points separated it and TV2’s re-run of Two and a Half Men.
On Friday, TV3’s HD duo of X Factor USA and The Graham Norton Show, and Kiwi comedies 7 Days and WANNA-BEn largely dwarfed everything else across the board.
X Factor also is bolstering TV3’s Thursday ratings, providing a competitive two-hour alternative to TV2’s reality line-up while the season finale of Rove LA posted some of the chat show’s highest ratings (it won the 9.30 hour with 18-49s and 25-54s, and tied with 18-39s).
On Wednesday, TV One’s HD double-bill of Winners and Losers and Harry’s Law continues to out-rate TV3’s Underbelly: Razor and The Borgias among 25-54s, 18-49s and HHS/kids but is level-pegging with 18-39s.
TV2’s HD alien invasion thriller, V, is rating poorly at 10.30, averaging only 1.7% of 18-39s compared to 2.7% for Chuck on Thursday and Supernatural’s season finale on Friday.
