HDTV Ratings: Red Hot Grey Guns Down NCIS: Los Angeles

NCIS: Los Angeles may be the third most popular primetime show on US TV but  TV3’s season premiere last night was whipped by a double-episode re-run of TV2’s Grey’s Anatomy.

The two HD hours went head-to-head at 9.30pm, where the second half of Grey’s was watched by 14.1% of TV3’s target audience, 18-49 year-olds, to earn a 37.3% channel share, while NCIS: Los Angeles notched up an 8.2 rating/21.6 share.

Lead-in CSI was stronger, with a 9.6 rating/24.9 share compared to Grey’s 12.7 rating/32.9 share.

Meanwhile, Grey’s sixth season opens tonight at 8.30 with a two-hour wake for a key character, where it will square off against TV3’s House and The Good Wife (which also is in HD).

HD content made significant contributions to the first week of TV3’s new season, helping the network to win Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday nights in its key demographic.
