HDTV Ratings: September 20-21

Underbelly NZ: Land of the Long Green Cloud bowed out last night after spending the second half on its six-week run under a ratings pall.

The HD drama started strongly, dipped in weeks two and three, then fell below 5% of TV3’s key demographics for the rest of its season.

At least the series finale was consistent, drawing 4.7% of 25-54, 18-49 and 18-39 year-olds, and only 3.8% of household shoppers with kids.

This made the Kiwi gangsters largely competitive with TV One’s documentary but they were easily outgunned by the final of TV2’s Sexy Ads Show.

TV One’s HD drama, Nothing Trivial, continues to rank second in its slot, with 8.5% of 25-54s, 8% of 18-49s and 9.7% of HHS/kids.

But HD lead-in What Would You Do? lost ground against TV2’s new hit sitcom, Hot in Cleveland.

Tuesday’s NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles bounced back in the 25-54 and 18-49 demos, beating HD rival Chef on a Mission.

The NCIS spin-off also narrowly out-rated TV2’s Private Practice among 25-54s but otherwise the hospital drama and its HD stablemate Grey’s Anatomy comfortably won their slots.

Meanwhile, Under the Grill drew a larger audience than normal for its series finale, with 7.2% of 18-49s and 7.5% of 25-54s.
