HDTV Ratings: September 22

The X Factor USA and Rove LA helped TV3 to win most of last night with it target audiences, 25-54 and 18-49 year-olds.

The first hour of X Factor lost decisively to TV2’s Police Ten 7 and RBT in these demographics.

But the second hour out-rated Embarrassing Fat Bodies while Rove LA crushed 20/20.

X Factor’s 25-54 viewership built from 5.4% to 10.2%, to average 8% over the two hours.

It was a similar trend with 18-49s and 18-39s (which peaked at 12%) while household shoppers with kids went from a 6.1 rating to a 15.3.

Rove LA averaged 11% of HHS/kids, 7.8% of 25-54s and 8.6% of 18-49s.

In the US, X Factor drew nearly half as many viewers as this year’s premiere of American Idol: 12.5 million.
