HDTV Ratings: September 23-24
The X Factor USA and the Rugby World Cup helped TV3 to score free-to-air ratings wins over the weekend.
Saturday’s live HD coverage of the All Blacks versus France was watched by 15.8% of TV3’s core audience, 25-54 year-olds, compared to Sky Sports 1’s 13.7% (Maori TV’s SD telecast rated 6.1%).
TV3’s 18-49 rating was the same while 18.7% of household shoppers with kids chose its coverage over Sky’s 10.5%.
And after Thursday’s solid if unspectacular debut, Friday’s X-Factor rocketed to the top of the charts.
The two-hour instalment decimated TV One’s line-up and out-rated TV2’s free-to-air HD premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Simon Cowell and co averaged 11.2% of 25-54s and 18-39s (versus the Boy Wizard’s 8.9%), 11.4% of 18-49s (vs 8.5%), and 14% of HHS/kids (vs 12.1%).
The X Factor also held up in its second night on US TV.

Nice to see Medaworks getting on top for a change..
I’ve heard through a reliable source that when they get to the live shows it will be in 5.1. Even in America they are only getting stereo for these audition episodes.
