Hot Off the Press Release: Apple TV App Comes to Sony

Sony TV owners who want to enjoy Apple TV won’t have to fork out for a separate streaming box with this month’s launch of an app on “select” series.

It will roll out from today on the X9000H series via a software update, with these models to follow: Z8H, A8H, X95H, X80H, Z9G, A9G, X95G, X85G, Z9F and A9F.

The app should go live during December but if you want it earlier, the firmware can be downloaded and manually updated from

The implementation of the app complements the AirPlay 2 and HomeKit options already on these TVs and will allow viewing of compatible content in 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos.

Apple has arguably the best 4K movies service and while its Apple TV+ platform is limited, most of the content is excellent and the picture quality amazing.

Apple TV already is on Samsung and LG TVs, which leaves Panasonic as the only major brand in this market without it or Disney+.
