Hot Off the Press Release: Party at Dai’s Place
Three’s newest comedy series will premiere only days after NZ On Air announced funding for the project.
The network will launch Dai’s House Party in a high-profile 8.30 Thursday slot on April 23, as the lead-in to The Graham Norton Show, which premieres tonight with a shorter, half-hour format because of COVID-19 logistics.
Here’s the media release:
THREE’S BRAND NEW KIWI COMEDY DAI’S HOUSE PARTY COMING TO YOUR BUBBLE NEXT WEEK
MediaWorks is delighted to confirm that we have the brand new comedy show Dai’s House Party coming to Three during lockdown.
Thanks to a funding boost from NZ On Air, the wife-and-husband duo of Bronwynn and Cam Bakker (the team behind some of Three’s most successful comedies including the likes of Jono & Ben, Funny Girls, Golden Boy and NZ Today) are producing 6 x 30 minutes of this innovative comedy caper for Three.
Dai’s House Party will find its home in prime time on Thursday nights kicking off at 8.30pm from April 23, flanked by popular family and entertainment shows Lego Masters US at 7.30pm and All New Graham Norton (also shot from inside his bubble in the UK) at 9pm.
Multi-talented comedian and host Dai Henwood (7 Days, Dancing with the Stars NZ, Family Feud) will front the new series from the comfort and craziness of his own bubble where he’ll bring together some of New Zealand’s best comedians to showcase creative sketches, stand-up, how to guides, monologues, character plays – basically anything that can be filmed in their own homes while under lock down.
Dai says: “We have some of the best comedy talent in the world and I am sure they are all going a little nuts in their bubble. It is time to gather all that nuts together and pop it on your TV Screen.”
Some of the comedy chops that will be showcased throughout the series include Paul Ego (7 Days), Kim Crossman (The Project, Funny Girls, Golden Boy), Guy Williams (Jono and Ben, NZ Today), Brynley Stent (Funny Girls) and Chris Parker (Funny Girls, 7 Days, The Male Gayz).
MediaWorks Director of Content – TV, Ben Quinn says:\ Three has local comedy in its DNA and right now is a great time for us to all kick back and share a few laughs. With the support of New Zealand On Air, it’s exciting to be able to bring some fresh comedy into the homes of Kiwis, as well as providing a great platform to a bunch of incredibly talented local comedians.”
Dai’s House Party premieres on Thursday April 23rd at 8.30pm on Three and ThreeNow.
