House of Lies Still Homeless

TV3 has yet to schedule the satirical drama about a management consultancy firm, House of Lies, which has just been renewed for a third season.

Showtime announced today it was ordering more episodes of the HD award-winner, along with further seasons of Californication and Shameless.

The former already airs on TV3 and the latter is a late-night staple on TV2, which, to its credit for an off-peak drama, screens the series soon after its US run (unlike, say, TV One’s Southland).

TV3 did schedule House of Lies, which this month won star Don Cheadle a Golden Globe for best actor in a TV musical or comedy, for late last year.

But it pre-empted what would have been a six-week run of 12 double-episodes for a five-week run of Nurse Jackie, because it had to accommodate a movie-length season finale of Homeland in the week before Christmas.

However, at this stage it has yet to reschedule the series, which co-stars Gossip Girls’ Kristin Bell, Parks and Recreation’s Ben Scwhartz and Heroes’ Dawn Olivieri.

Meanwhile, season two of Shameless bows February 20 on Blu-ray, TV3 is re-running season two of Nurse Jackie late-night Thursdays from February 7, and Cinemax announced today that it had renewed Banshee, which is into its third week on SoHo.

Banshee stars Outrageous Fortune’s Antony Starr, whose Westie whanau debut in separate HD newcomers over the next week: Robyn Malcolm, in Agent Anna on Thursday (TV One, 8.30), and Antonia Prebble and Siobhan Marshall, in The Blue Rose on Monday (TV3, 8.30).

Pleased to hear that Cinemax has renewed Banshee. I have really enjoyed the first season of Banshee so far.
