MAGNETIC PICTURES COMMENCES FILMING ON NEW SPIN-OFF SERIES MISSION POSSIBLE FOLLOWING MAJOR INTERNATIONAL WIN FOR K’ ROAD CHRONICLES

AUCKLAND, NZ – 26 June 2026 – New Zealand production house Magnetic Pictures has officially commenced principal photography on Mission Possible, a brand-new documentary series born from the critical success of the multi-award-winning web series K’ Road Chronicles.

The cameras started rolling just days before K’ Road Chronicles secured the prestigious Best Documentary award at die Seriale 2026 in Giessen, Germany.

The international jury at Europe’s oldest web series festival singled out the final season’s groundbreaking episode focusing on the Wellington City Mission—a narrative that served as the creative springboard for this new standalone series.

In awarding the top documentary prize to Magnetic Pictures, the die Seriale international jury issued a moving citation:

This series deeply moved us through its immense social relevance and pure humanity, shattering stereotypes by shedding light on those who provide food, clothing, and shelter to people in need. It stands out because of its sensitive storytelling, giving a powerful platform to the protagonists’ struggles, hopes, and humanistic visions. Ultimately, it is a poetic and deeply empathetic portrait of community work and the profound power of helping one another.

The win in Germany continues the success of K’ Road Chronicles Season 4, which also won Best NZ Factual Series and Best Host/Presenter for Six at the NZ Web Fest Awards 2025.

Building directly upon the raw, compassionate storytelling of our award-winning Wellington K’ Road Chronicles episode, Mission Possible will provide an unprecedented, deeper look into the capital city’s social frontline.

“We are absolutely thrilled to partner with the Wellington City Mission, TP+, and NZ On Air to bring more vital stories from the capital to the screen,” says Brian Holland, Series Producer at Magnetic Pictures.

“An entire series dedicated to Wellington allows us to focus deeply on the grit, realities, and profound human experiences of Wellingtonians struggling and finding life tough.

“It is an incredible opportunity to explore complex social issues while highlighting the powerful, community-led solutions driving real change.

Mission Possible will continue Magnetic Pictures’ legacy of shattering stereotypes, giving voice to marginalised communities, and highlighting the vital, life-changing work being done to support those in need across Aotearoa.

The series is currently filming on location in Wellington and is slated for release on TP+ later this year with the generous support of NZ On Air.
