Two out of three Kiwis watched UK quiz sensation The Chase in 2024 — and now TVNZ is inviting them to compete in a short-run NZ version that will be recorded across the Tasman in The Chase Australia’s Sydney studio.

TVNZ commissions ITV Studios Australia for a four-episode special of The Chase New Zealand, with filming taking place in Sydney, Australia. Following the popular long-running original format, casting has begun to find New Zealanders keen to show off their general knowledge prowess, in the hopes of winning a substantial cash prize in the Final Chase. With two out of three Kiwis watching The Chase in 2024*, the opportunity to film a four-episode special in The Chase Australia’s studio presents a unique chance to bring New Zealanders in on the action. What a joke. 4 episodes? People paying for their own travel and expenses? — Fsmith.
Obviously TVNZ is having to fund the full cost of Aussie-shot episodes, so I can understand they won’t have much spare $$ to fly contestants across the ditch. It’s a big ask though … people would either have to be very confident of their quizzing abilities or just be happy to sync the filming up with an Aussie vacation :-) — Dave.
