Latest Star Trek Series Set to Launch

On the eve of TVNZ OnDemand streaming Star Trek Discovery, Paramount+ has released the trailer for the next franchise spin-off, Strange New Worlds.

It stars Hell on Wheels’ Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, who helmed the U.S.S. Enterprise before Captain Kirk.

The show is billed as a return to the classic planet-of-the-week space exploration format of the 1960s Star Trek.

Rebecca Romijn co-stars as Number One and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock.

Strange New Worlds launches May 5 on Paramount+ and should take off on TVNZ OnDemand around the same time through its ViacomCBS deal.

Sadly it won’t be in 4K-UHD, which will be its native resolution on Paramount+.

TVNZ OnDemand has yet to disclose when it will stream Discovery, which Paramount clawed back from Netflix for its own world-wide platform, but an announcement is expected shortly.
