Lawman Bass Reeves Still MIA

Western fans hoping to stream Lawmen: Bass Reeves locally will remain disappointed, with the true-life shoot-’em-up about a black sheriff yet to surface on Prime Video.

That seems the most likely destination for the latest series from Yellowstone producer 101 Studios, which stars David Oyelowo, Dennis Quaid and Donald Sutherland, and streams globally on Paramount+.

Prime Video has yet to confirm this but TVNZ+, which is the unofficial home of Paramount+, says it doesn’t have the rights.

And previous 101 Studios series, like Yellowstone spin-offs 1883 and 2023, Mayor of Kingston and Special Ops: Lioness, have wound up on Prime Video.

Bass Reeves isn’t among Prime Video’s December highlights but it may be being held back until January, by when its weekly roll-out will have finished on Paramount+ and all eight eps can land at once on Prime Video.

In the meantime, Prime Video does have the 2009 telemovie Bass Reeves.
