Lightbox Picks Up Valley Girl

The latest Kyra (The Closer) Sedgwick series, Ten Days in the Valley, will premiere next month on Lightbox.

It stars Sedgwick as a documentary TV producer who, having brought down the San Francisco Police Department with an investigation, launches a controversial crime drama series amid a messy divorce and the disappearance of her daughter.

The Washington Post thought it “nerve-racking and entertaining … It’s an instantly engrossing show, made more tense by Sedgwick’s all-in performance of a woman losing a precarious grip on things.”

But Variety dismissed the eight-part ABC series as overwrought: “The harder it tries to come off as serious and deep, the more this derivative drama is infused with an air of faintly ridiculous overreach. It’s a mess.”

Ten Days in the Valley will stream in double-episodes weekly from November 25.

Also new next month on Lightbox will be season three of Blindspot (weekly from November 5), and seasons two of Search Party (weekly from November 20) and Better Things (double-episodes weekly from November 10).

The Spark streaming service also will add four IMAX docos — Dinosaurs: Giants of Patagonia, Journey to Space, Arabia, Dinosaurs Alive (from November 15) — and:

  • season five of Top Chef Masters (from November 3)
  • seasons 1-5 of Stargate Atlantis (from November 10)
