Lightbox Scoops Miss Scarlett and the Duke
Lightbox will exclusively stream a “Victorian Moonlighting” starring Peaky Blinders’ Kate Phillips.
Miss Scarlett and the Duke will premiere on April 15, two weeks after its UK launch.
Created by Grantchester’s Rachel New, it stars Phillips (Arthur’s wife in Peaky Blinders) as London’s first female detective.
“The Duke” is her policeman ‘friend’, Detective Inspector William Wellington (Jamestown’s Stuart Martin. According to the Daily Mail:
Miss Scarlett and the Duke mixes elements of Ripper Street, Sherlock Holmes and Peaky Blinders, but gives the whole package a distinctively feminine touch. Just when you thought producers had mined this rich seam in every possible way, this is crime drama reinvented. And as it’s a stylish costume drama with a hint of will-they-won’t-they romance thrown in too, it basically encompasses all things audiences across the world love about British television.
The six-part series will screen on PBS in the US and Seven in Australia.
