Look Who’s Up to the Task

Media Release: Five New Comedy Heavyweights Take on Taskmaster NZ
The wait is over. A new group of contestants is set to enter the Taskmaster arena, with five familiar faces taking on the ultimate test of creativity, ingenuity and composure when Taskmaster NZ returns for its seventh season this September on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+.
Stepping up to face the Taskmaster’s unique brand of chaos this season are internationally acclaimed comedian and writer Rose Matafeo, veteran actor and comedian Dave Fane, the brilliantly funny Morgana O’Reilly, stand-up favourite Rhys Mathewson, and quick-witted comedian and 2025 Billy T Award winner Hoani Hotene.
Across 10 brand-new episodes, the quintet will put their creativity, patience and dignity on the line as they compete for the approval of the formidable Taskmaster Jeremy Wells and his faithful assistant Paul Williams, all while battling for points, bragging rights, and a place in Taskmaster history.
Expect the unexpected, as tasks range from the seemingly simple to the absurdly complex – from swinging a grape into Paul’s mouth, diversifying the usage of a vibrating platform or hammering out a tune in the fastest time, there’ll be plenty of moments that leave everyone wondering how things went so wrong.
Whether it’s brilliance or utter disaster, one thing is guaranteed: the competition will be fierce, the laughs will come thick and fast, and only one contestant can emerge as the Season 7 Taskmaster champion. But who will take home the coveted Taskmaster trophy?
Taskmaster NZ premieres on Monday 14 September at 7.30pm on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+, with a second episode airing every Tuesday for a double dose of chaos each week.
