May 30 Black Panther Blu-ray
Marvel Studios’ Black Panther will be released here on 4K-UHD, Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray two weeks later than in the US.
It goes on sale here on May 30, after grossing more than $7 million in eight weeks — nearly $2 million of that was earned in its record-breaking opening weekend — and more than $1.3 billion globally.
NZ art hasn’t been finalised but here’s what the US edition will look like:
The 4K-UHD release will feature high dynamic range (HDR) visuals and Dolby Atmos immersive audio in addition to the Blu-ray’s:
- director’s commentary
- deleted scenes
- making-of shorts that trace the Black Panther’s evolution, the remarkable women of Wakanda, the history of T’Challa’s proud nation, and the cosmic origin and technological applications of vibranium
- a roundtable discussion with the filmmakers and screenwriters
- a featurette tracing the countless connections between heroes, characters and storylines within the Marvel Cinematic Universe
- a sneak peek at Ant-Man and the Wasp (which opens theatrically on July 5).
Instead of a Dolby Atmos or 7.1 Dolby Digital Plus track, the Blu-ray will have a 7.1 DTA-HD Master Audio encode.
Black Panther can next be seen in Avengers: Infinity War, which opens on Anzac Day and is partly set in Wakanda.
