Sky has rolled out its Sky Sport Now app to an unprecedented number of smart TVs and devices, all with 24-hour catch-up.
Here’s the media release:
Watching all the LIVE sport streaming on Sky Sport Now even easier
Whether you’re watching Super Rugby Aotearoa, ANZ Premiership Netball, A-League, NRL, the NZ NBL, Supercars or any other live sport event, from today it’s even more enjoyable as Sky Sport Now, Sky’s streaming service, is now enabled on even more Smart TVs as well as iOS, Android and selected Freeview devices.
“We are 100% about delivering our fantastic sport, news and entertainment content to every New Zealander, in ways that work for them,” says Chaz Savage, Sky’s Chief Customer Officer. “So, not only are we driven to provide the best of the best of rugby, netball, league and every other sporting code that gets Kiwis’ hearts pumping, we also ensure it’s accessible.
“Sport is best on the big screen and Sky Sport Now customers can now watch sports content on smart TVs from Panasonic, Sony, TCL, and Samsung. Sky Sport Now is also available on Freeview’s Android TV platform, via the SmartVU dongle with a new SmartVU+ box coming soon to stores.”
The Sky team has been hard at work enhancing other features such as 24-hour catch up – which will be available across all of the above.
“We’re pretty excited that the vast majority of live sport in play in New Zealand and around the world is available through Sky Sport Now. There’s so much on that there are simply not enough hours in the day to be able to watch it in real time. Extending the catch-up features across more platforms means fans don’t miss out on the action,” says Savage.

As I have got Sky Sport Now on Apple TV, I have said adios to MySky and am so happy. I now have got a lot more options and I love it unless it starts buffering during a Hurricanes game 🙂
Great to see Sky being more flexible but I’d never get rid of MySky, Trevor. It remains the only Sky platform that delivers 5.1 audio and I love the convenience of recording to watch content beyond a 24-hour cut-off.
I only used MySky for the sports so it was a waste of time for me keeping it, it’s a lot better. Besides, my MySky stopped working 🙂
