My Sky + … Movies in March

Power Games: The Packer-Murdoch Story is one of two award-worthy mini-series to screen on a Sky movie channel the same month as the Oscars.

But the producer of the media moguls dramatisation, John Edwards, was disappointed and bewildered by its poor ratings across the Tasman, especially after critics raved.

The Guardian thought it “eminently watchable“, the Canberra Times acclaimed it as “a fascinating story with excellent performances tracing the rise of Kerry Packer and Rupert Murdoch” and The Australian reckoned “you don’t need to be an expert in media lore to enjoy this clash of the titans“.

The two-part dramatisation will screen on Movies Extra on March 20 and 27; the same channel also will air the true-crime dramatisation The Great Train Robbery on March 6 and 13.

Movies Premiere will broadcast live the Academy Awards on March 3 and the movie that won Jennifer Lawrence last year’s best actress Oscar, The Silver Linings Playbook, will premiere five days later on Movies Extra.
