My Sky + … Movies in May
After dusting off miniseries from its vault, Sky Movies Extra will screen in May an epic costume drama within weeks of its UK premiere.
New Worlds is a belated sequel to The Devil’s Whore and stars Game of Thrones’ Joe Dempsie and Fifty Shades of Grey’s Jamie Dornan.
One British site previewed it as “beautifully shot and politically astute” while Channel 4 publicity says it focuses on four youths from different backgrounds “navigating the turbulent Restoration period on both sides of the Atlantic”.
The two-part drama will premiere April 1 on Channel 4 and here on May 15.
Movies Extra also will air another two-part miniseries in May, the much older XIII.
Loosely based on the Belgian graphic novel series about a secret agent with amnesia, this French-Canadian conspiracy thriller dates to 2008 but spawned a series that so far has lasted two seasons.
The pick of May’s movie premieres include World War Z, Warm Bodies, The Details, 2 Guns, The Bling Ring, Deadfall, Despicable Me 2 and The Lone Ranger.

Movies Premiere: with titles in the offing such as listed, Movie Escapees would be more apt. May be ill form — a political party to fight National in the next election: Better Movies Party. 98 cents enrolment. The Lone Ranger deader than the bird that’s a prop atop of Johnny Depp’s head. OH JOY!
