My Sky + … Movies in October

Interstellar, Into the Storm and Big Hero 6 are the biggest premieres coming next month to Sky’s HD movie channels.

There’s also a handful of classics to check out — Mean Streets, The Stalking Moon, Pocket Money, Omega Man — and the premiere of the biblical miniseries, The Red Tent.

The NY Daily News praised The Red Tent as “a faithful dramatisation of Anita Diamant’s 1997 book, in which Diamant took a minor character from the Bible and filled in the story the Bible didn’t tell … an aggressively feminist story painted on a canvas straight out of The Ten Commandments.”

“The Red Tent may not exactly be an epic, but it’s an engaging and very well cast story of the triumph and resilience of the female spirit,” said The Hollywood Reporter.

But detractors included Variety (“the biblical setting provides an arresting backdrop for soapy material”) and the Los Angeles Times (“close to parody“).
