My Sky + … Movies in September

The latest in the 007 and Twilight franchises will premiere in HD next month on Sky Movies.

Skyfall is scheduled for September 1 and Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 for September 29.

They bookend an interesting rather than outstanding mix of HD premieres, ranging from the entertaining horror re-make The Cabin in the Woods, starring Go Girls’ Anna Hutchison, to The Sapphires, the Aussie musical comedy that’s become embroiled in a ridiculous DVD controversy in the US alleging racist marketing when clearly its promotion has more to do with marquee value.

Other highlights includes Ruby Sparks, Savages and The Campaign.

New to Sky Movies Greats in HD will be ‘90s noir The Usual Suspects, Oscar-winner Jerry Maguire and action hits 300, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and The Rock.

Also of interest to Bond fans … One is showing a film every Sat night at 9:40pm. Dr No was last week, and this Sat is From Russia With Love.

  2. Thanks, Kyle. But what would really have made them of interest would have been HD masters. It was ridiculously shortsighted of TV One to settle for an SD Bond season amidst the franchise’s 50th anniversary and all of the movies being re-issued on Blu-ray.

  3. Love the James Bond movies in HD … I got the boxset, I will watch them again when I have got my soundbar 🙂

  4. Ugh … a soundbar won’t do them justice! Unless you live in a matchbox, where space is at a premium, a semi-decent 5.1 digital surround system is cheap as chips nowadays.
