MySky+ … Movies in July

Sky’s family movies channel pops up again next month with the premieres of Monsters University, The Croods and Epic.

In fact, July looks to be an epic month across all of Sky’s premium movies channels.

Premiere offers Captain Phillips, The Hangover Part III, Now You See Me, Wolverine and Riddick while Extra debuts The Great Gatsby, Before Midnight, Mud and Stoker.

The latter also is dusting off a 2009 “bargain-bin” miniseries called Diamonds, in which Ripper Street’s Andy Wilson directed The Following’s James Purefoy.

Said Variety: “As British political thrillers go, the two-part movie proves wan and jumbled, throwing in big names like Judy Davis and Derek Jacobi just long enough to provide a shiny veneer, which can’t hide that the underlying story is mostly a zirconium.

“The project proves busy enough but not particularly engaging, while delivering a heavyhanded message about the multifaceted tendrils of the diamond trade.”
