Neon Mines Streaming Rivals in May

Sky’s Neon is picking up a raft of series that are streaming on rival services as well as reviving several classics for May.
Next month it will add seasons 1-7 of Ray Donovan, but not the 2022 movie that concluded the series (and inexplicably has never streamed locally), S1-8 of the SWAT reboot (which previously streamed in 4K-UHD on Netflix), and S1-6 of ’90s masterpiece Homicide: Life on the Street.
Since it went off air, this groundbreaking forerunner of The Wire and The Shield, which first broadcast here on TVNZ, hadn’t been available to stream because of music rights issues but has now been remastered in 4K-UHD and HD (Neon has the latter).
Unlike the Ray Donovan movie, Neon has secured the Homicide: The Movie, which was made in 2005 to wind up the series but, peculiarly, this month started streaming ahead of it.
Neon also will stream series new and old, some of which have screened on Sky but more recently have been exclusive to Disney+ or are Showtime staples re-acquired through Sky’s expanded deal with Paramount Global:
- Snowfall S1-6
- Homeland S1-6
- The Americans S1-6
- Atlanta S1-4
- Glee S1-6
- The Last Man on Earth S1-4
- You’re The Worst S1-5
- Wilfred S1-4
Also from Disney+ is S1 of the Jeff Bridges spy thriller The Old Man while ex-Prime Video are A Very English Scandal (which originally aired here free-to-air) as well as three other series that previously streamed on the service: Babylon Berlin S1-4, The New Pope and The Young Pope.
