Neon Rejigs August Slate

Neon has brought forward and added several titles to its August slate.

War & Peace went live yesterday, a day ahead of schedule, while spearheading the late additions is the dark crime thriller We Hunt Together.

The latter first screened 18 months ago on BBC UKTV and a second six-part season filmed earlier this year.

Reads the blurb for S1:

This gritty cat-and-mouse thriller investigates the dangerous power of desire, combining stunning visuals with moral depth. When Freddy, a troubled young woman, is nearly assaulted outside a nightclub, the toilet attendant steps in to help. Baba, a former child solider, acts with swift, unstoppable brutality. She’s entranced. The pair form an instant intoxicating connection. Something dark within both of them quickly emerges. Soon they set about exacting revenge on people from Freddy’s past – Baba’s skill for violence and Freddy’s tinge of psychopathy prove a lethal combination. But they’re not the only ones on the hunt. Can dysfunctional detectives DI Mendy and DS Franks set aside their opposing views long enough to catch the deadly duo? Starring Eve Myles (Keeping Faith), Hermione Corfield (Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation), Babou Ceesay (Dark Money).

“Forget cat-and-mouse crime shows,” Reason said. “We Hunt Together is cats-and-mice, plural, with a pair of mismatched cops and criminals chasing around one another through a fog of hormones and splattered blood.

“It’s twice as gory, twice as creepy, and twice as much fun as anything else you’ve seen this summer.”

But The Hollywood Reporter thought it “pulpy, too-twisty” while Stuff argued “it could bypass the gutter and go direct to the sewer but, at the moment, it’s hovering above the grating”.

The BBC World War I drama Birdsong, which stars Eddie Redmayne and Clémence Poésy in a 2012 adaptation of the Sebastian Faulks novel, will stream from Sunday and seasons three and four of Celebrity Bake Off from Saturday.

Meanwhile, The Cabins will now stream from tomorrow, two days earlier than scheduled.
