New Year Additions to SoHo and Neon

Sky has added the season four premiere of odd-couple private eye hit CB Strike to next month’s Neon and SoHo schedules.

Troubled Blood will stream on Neon from January 10 and air 8.30 Sundays on SoHo on January 29.

“The new case has a vast cast of suspects and red herrings to chew through before ludicrously monikered private investigator Cormoran Strike (Tom Burke) and his assistant Robin Ellacott (Holliday Grainger) work out who the culprit is in episode four,” The Guardian said.

“Spoiler: the answer isn’t that satisfying and is, after such a huge buildup, somehow sudden and rushed.”

But the newspaper argued: “The will-they won’t-they relationship between the two detectives is the beating heart of this Robert Galbraith (AKA JK Rowling) adaptation.”

The Telegraph described it as “good, competent meat-and-two-veg noir” with “flavoursome cameos from Cherie Lunghi, Kenneth Cranham and – surprise! – Robin Askwith” and noted while the book’s cross-dressing villain has gone, “Rowling’s impassioned feminism and cancel-culture backlash remain”.

Other SoHo/Neon changes include I Hate Suzie Too’s SoHo debut switching from January 26 to February 3 (8.30 Thursdays) and the return of Real Time With Bill Maher from January 21 on Neon and from January 22 on SoHo (10.20 Sundays).

Pre-empting Suzie will be I Love That for You, the Showtime comedy about a woman who overcomes childhood leukaemia to become a home-shopping network host that already has streamed on Neon.
