New Family and Sci-fi Fare for D+

Disney+ will premiere parenthood drama Good American Family, starring Ellen Pompeo, Mark Duplass and Imogen Reid, on March 19.

It will open with two episodes, with further episodes rolling out weekly.

The series unfolds from multiple points of view to explore issues of perspective, bias and trauma.

It was inspired by disturbing stories surrounding a Midwestern couple who adopts a girl with a rare form of dwarfism. Reads the blurb:

As they begin to raise her alongside their three biological children, mystery emerges around her age and background, and they slowly start to suspect she may not be who she says she is.

As they defend their family from the daughter they’ve grown to believe is a threat, she fights her own battle to confront her past and what her future holds, in a showdown that ultimately plays out in the tabloids and the courtroom.

Disney+ also has dropped the trailer for FX’s Alien: Earth but has yet to disclose when it will launch.

The sci-fi/horror series follows a spaceship crash recovery crew’s close encounters with mysterious predatory life forms more terrifying than they could have ever imagined.

Sydney Chandler heads a cast that includes Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, David Rysdahl and Adrian Edmondson.
