New House Show Big Sunday Hit

TVNZ 1 has a new Sunday night hit with the premiere of its latest property porn show, New Zealand’s Best Homes With Phil Spencer.

It averaged 113,679 viewers aged 25-54 to earn a 5.37 rating and a 33 share of the network’s core commercial demographic.

That made it the fourth-most watched programme of the night in this demo, after 1 News (189,731 viewers), Hyundai Country Calendar (133,710 viewers), and The Chase (128,839).

This was TVNZ 1’s best turnout in the slot since it was vacated by the controversially axed Sunday.

Sunday’s final broadcast on May 12 averaged 105,828 viewers; a string of documentary repeats since then have rated much lower.

Three’s Newshub Live at 6pm was Sunday’s fifth-most viewed programme of the night (87,759 viewers), followed by Three’s Married at First Sight NZ (82,795) and My Life is Murder (65,773).

Murder’s 25-54 viewership was up 25,000 week-on-week because of the stronger lead-in from NZ’s Best Homes.

Three’s movie Killers averaged 33,560 viewers and TVNZ 2’s London Has Fallen, 34,394; the latter’s Masterchef Australia averaged 41,021.

TVNZ 1 averaged the night’s biggest 25-54 share of 36.73, well ahead of Three (19.58) and TVNZ 2 (12.84).
