New NBC Comedies Bound for TV2

Two NBC comedy pilots that been been ordered as series for the 2016/17 season will screen on TV2.

Both Powerless, the first DC Comics comedy, and Trial & Error are from Warner Bros TV, with which TVNZ has an output deal.

The former stars Grease Lives Vanessa Hudgens as an insurance adjuster who provides people with coverage against damage caused by crime-fighting superheroes.

Trial & Error will be John Lithgow’s first sitcom since 3rd Rock From the Sun. It, too, has a fish-out-of -water premise, with Lithgow playing a quirky poetry professor accused of murder.

They join a network slate that includes the Ted Danson-Kristen Bell comedy, The Good Place, a prequel series to the action movie franchise Taken, and Emerald City, a dark take on The Wizard of Oz.

Universal will produce all three, so they’re likely to wind up on TV3, depending on how many series the network takes under its NBC Universal deal now it no longer needs to feed Four with entertainment fare.
