New Slot for Failing Blindspot

TVNZ 1 is demoting crime drama Blindspot from 8.30 Thursdays to 9.30 Mondays after persistently low ratings since its season premiere.

It’s the latest US drama to falter badly after starting strongly last year.

Last week’s episode averaged only 2.6% of the network’s target audience, 25-54 year-olds, compared to 5.7% for TVNZ 2’s re-run of Men in Black II and 3.5% for Three’s Married at First Sight Australia.

Even among the 5+ demographic, in which TVNZ 1 normally fares well, the episode averaged only 3.8% — compared to 9.1% for lead-in George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces.

As a result, Blindspot will follow new procedural APB from March 6, where it will square off against TVNZ 2’s The Walking Dead.

Taking over its Thursday slot the same week will be season two of Code Black, a bland medical drama that last year rated strongly for the network.
