New to Acorn TV in April
Season three of French crime drama Balthazar and season one of The Hour spearhead April’s streaming highlights on Acorn TV.
Balthazar is a NZ premiere — it’s just completed its run in France with a shocking finale — while both seasons of The Hour, a BBC drama about the media, police and politics in ’50s UK, have aired on Sky’s SoHo.
Next month’s other big blast-from-the-past is the original Poldark, both series of which aired here in the mid-70s. Star Robin Ellis also featured in the latest version, as Reverend Halse.
Unfortunately, the show hasn’t been remastered and will stream in its original 4:3 SD format.
Meanwhile, Alan Davies’ fans will want to catch the QI/Jonathan Creek star as a country hotel chef in the 2010 drama Whites.
