New to Acorn TV in May

Emilia Fox (Silent Witness) plays a top British spy who starts life over in Italy in Acorn TV’s world premiere of Signora Volpe.

It will stream from May 1, with new episodes debuting weekly.

The titular heroine’s cases include the disappearance of the groom (and discovery of a corpse) at her niece’s wedding, the theft of a truffle pig and a blackmail plot against the son of a Russian politician.

“Filmed on location in Umbria and Lazio and filled with sexy twists, this three-part original feels like the perfect beach read,” reckons TV Insider.

May’s also notable for:

  • the final two episodes of The Ipcress File
  • the season two premiere of My Life is Murder
  • 2021 series HPI, about a cleaning lady in a police station whose IQ of 160 helps the cops to solve crime, and
  • White Sands, another 2021 newcomer in which two German detectives go undercover in the tourist paradise of Hvide Sande, on the Jutlandic west coast, to find a surfer’s killer.
