New to Acorn TV in October
The latest ITV procedural, Karen Pirie, which premieres this weekend in the UK, will stream exclusively here on Acorn TV from October 10.
The three two-hour murder mysteries star Outlander’s Lauren Lyle as a young Scottish detective in St Andrews.
The series is based on the Val McDermid novels, starting with the first, “The Distant Echo”, and will roll out weekly on Acorn TV.
The streamer’s also picked up another female-sleuth exclusive, Maria Kallio.
It’s named after the head of the Western Uusimaa police murder squad, a Finnish investigator who’s one exam away from graduating as a lawyer who juggles her new job with the typical 30-something dilemmas of a modern woman.
It will land as a full-season, 10-episode binge on October 17.
Other newcomers next month will include season 22 of Midsomer Murders (October 17), the 2004 series Five Days To Midnight (October 3), and two miniseries: 2006’s Arthur Hailey’s Detective (October 24) and 2015’s The Fixer (October 31).
There also will be three more movie-length Aurora Teagarden Mysteries (October 10): The Disappearing Game, A Game of Cat and Mouse and An Inheritance to Die For.
