New to Amazon Prime Video in April

4K crimefighters The Tick and Bosch bounce back for new seasons next month on Amazon Prime Video.

Season two of The Tick will stream from April 5 and season five of Bosch from April 19.

Having freed the City from The Terror in S1 of The Tick, our heroes now have to defend it from new villains and old enemies — if they can convince AEGIS, the government agency in charge of superhero regulation, that they deserve the job.

And 15 months after bringing his mother’s killer to justice, LA detective Bosch finds himself seeking the truth on two fronts. Reads the blurb:

New evidence in an old case leaves everyone wondering, did Bosch cross the line by planting evidence and imprison the wrong guy? And a murder at a Hollywood pharmacy exposes a sophisticated opioid pill mill, but Bosch’s search for the killers takes him down a dark and perilous path.

American Gods will have its season finale on April 29 and the NZ service at last will update its library of movie relics with three new releases from Amazon Studios:

Beautiful Boy (April 6): Based on the best-selling pair of memoirs from father and son David and Nic Sheff, Beautiful Boy chronicles the heartbreaking and inspiring experience of survival, relapse, and recovery in a family coping with addiction over many years.  Timothée Chalamet and Steve Carell star.

The Upside (April 19): A comedic look at the relationship between a wealthy man with quadriplegia and an unemployed man with a criminal record who’s hired to help him. Bryan Cranston, Kevin Hart and Nicole Kidman star.

Suspiria (April 26): A darkness swirls at the centre of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist. Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up. Chloë Grace Moretz, Tilda Swinton, and Dakota Johnson star.
