New to Amazon Prime Video in November

“I’m James May and I can’t cook, welcome to my cookery show.”

That’s the opening line to James May: Oh Cook!, season one of which will stream on Amazon Prime Video from November 13.

The title of the seven-part series, which is aimed at people who, like May, don’t know how to cook, was inspired by The Grand Tour presenter’s colourful catchphrase.

His language in Oh Cook! may pale in comparison to Gordon Ramsay’s.

But May confessed to The Yorkshire Post he was surprised by how he comes across “quite bad tempered [on the show], which I never am normally.

“I’m slightly ashamed of it but that’s what happens when you try and cook on TV.”

In another new documentary series, The Pack (November 20), 12 teams of dogs and their human companions compete in fun and exciting challenges celebrating their incredible bond.

It’s presented by gold Medallist skier Lindsey Vonn and her dog Lucy.

Also new to Amazon Prime Video next month will be the movie Uncle Frank, which True Blood creator Alan Ball wrote and directed. Reads the blurb:

Set in 1973, Uncle Frank follows teenager Beth Bledsoe (Sophia Lillis) who leaves her rural Southern hometown to study at New York University where her beloved Uncle Frank (Paul Bettany) is a revered literature professor. Beth soon discovers that Frank is gay and living with his long-time partner Walid “Wally” Nadeem (Peter Macdissi) – an arrangement he’s kept secret for years. After the sudden death of Frank’s father, Beth’s grandfather, Frank is forced to reluctantly return home for the funeral with Beth in tow, and to finally face a long-buried trauma that he has spent his entire adult life running away from.

The movie’s theatrical run was generally well reviewed, with the New York Post declaring: “Twenty years after he blazed onto the film scene, Alan Ball is back with another American beauty.”
