New to Blu: April 7 – 13

The latest new release to miss out on a 4K-UHD edition in this market is The Croods 2: A New Age.

Also missing is the 3D option for sale in the US.

However, the good news is the Blu-ray transfer maximises every bitrate.

The Croods: A New Age evolves onto Blu-ray with a razor-sharp and abundantly colourful 1080p transfer,” Blu-ray.com said.

“The image is terrific in all areas, bringing all but the finest textural intricacies this format can display with slightly finer output reserved for the UHD release.”

Being re-issued on Blu-ray are:

  • Amistad (“a very respectful and impressive transfer, free from any digital artifacts or unnecessary processing”)
  • Children of a Lesser God (“looks good for a film from 1986, but some grain and print wear do knock the score somewhat”)
  • Hustle and Flow (“a heavy hurricane of grain covers the image and the fine object detail is lacking”).

New on the anime front are:

  • Hunter X Hunter – Part 5
  • Fairy Tail: Final Season – Collection 25
  • Fruits Basket – Season 2: Part 1
  • Sword Art Online: The Complete Season 1
  • Kakuriyo Bed & Breakfast For Spirits: Complete Series.

Hi Philip, have you heard whether we will be getting It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia in New Zealand on Disney+ Star? I notice they have got it in Canada. Thanks 🙂

  2. Hey, Trevor, have put in a request to Disney. No doubt it will turn up at some stage but for the moment it may be locked into its Comedy Central run.

  3. It’s on Amazon Prime Video here.

  4. Thanks, Clint. That explains its absence on Disney+ Star for the time being.

  5. Thanks again Philip. I know it’s on Amazon Prime Video but so is 24 and Bones so I thought perhaps it doesn’t matter 🙂
