New to Blu: August 11 – 17

Silence is golden on both the Blu-ray and 4K-UHD of the week’s top pick, A Quiet Place Part II.

“Paramount brings A Quiet Place Part II to the UHD format with a solidly performing 2160p/Dolby Vision UHD presentation,” Blu-ray.com said.

“The image offers an evident boost over the concurrently released 1080p/SDR Blu-ray … This approaches a reference quality picture for one of the year’s best films.”

Concurred High-Def Digest: “The sequel breaths a sigh of relief and silence on Ultra HD with an excellent 4K video presentation, a reference-quality Dolby Atmos track but a disappointing set of bonuses.”

“Based upon the excellent quality of the original source the difference between viewing A Quiet Place Part II in high definition and Ultra HD isn’t night and day,” AVSForum said, “but there is no question that its UHD presentation benefitted from the increase in resolution, and high dynamic range treatment.”

Also new are Peter Rabbit 2 (“boasts an excellent native 4K image and a superb Atmos track, as well as a few nice extras ported over to the 4K disc proper” — AV Forums) and on Blu-ray only Wrath of Man and With Friends at St David’s.

I see Black Widow is already on iTunes. It’s certainly a big change from what it used to be like ?
