Noah scarcely unleashes the Blu-ray floodgates, with just six new titles going on sale this week.
Moreover, the revisionist Biblical blockbuster is the only heavyweight.
“Noah makes it rain on Blu-ray with a gorgeous and stunning 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 encode that stays true to the stylistic intentions of the filmmakers.
“By this, I’m mostly referring to Matthew Libatique’s downcast and joyless cinematography, a palette that is purposefully grayish and dull with a few splatters of bold colours when certain scenes require them.”
“The Blu-ray offers exquisite detail. And the lighting, framing, and movement of the camera provide many opportunities for that detail to be front and centre.”
“The accompanying DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track is frequently just as impressive, capturing the finer atmospheric nuances which creep in through skilful ambient observation, whilst conversely bringing your living room to life as the flood kicks in, and the surrounds sweep waves across you, crashing into you and thundering over you.”
Bowing a day after its TV3 broadcast is Never Tear Us Apart: The Untold Story of INXS while the first three seasons of Falling Skies are being re-issued in a box set.
Also new are Gnaw (“not the sharpest Blu-ray you will see”), Twixt (“colours are nicely balanced, and the ever essential blacks look deep and dark, but the cheapness of the production is betrayed by the clarity”) and Behaving Badly.

It feels like it’s been raining for weeks in my neighbourhood. There’s a shortage of building materials. A neighbour’s been asking me what’s a cubic? He’s been collecting animals in pairs — the smell from next door is too much. My neighbours asked if I’d like a sea cruise. His family and mine. No pollies or hackers!
