New to Blu: June 2 – 8
Zack Snyder’s four-hour cut of Justice League may be rife with creative shortcomings but technically this DC Comics superherofest is a marvel on both Blu-ray and 4K-UHD.
“This Ultra HD Blu-ray release boasts an absolutely stunning native 4K image splitting the four-hour movie across two 100GB 4K UHD discs,” AVForums said.
“It absolutely leaves the Sky/NowTV presentation in the dust. It’s a gorgeous, visually opulent production and this native 4K presentation makes the most of it.”
“Amid the gloominess, brilliantly clean whites radiate through the darkness, beaming with such an intensity that should serve excellence demo-material for testing a display’s peak luminance,” High-Def Digest said.
“Viewers can make out the most minute detail and feature in the darkest, bleakest corners of the frame …
“Specular highlights are equally astonishing, giving the edge of clouds a realistic shine from a distance while also exposing every detail in the absolute brightest moments.”
Countered The Digital Bits: “This isn’t quite a reference-quality image, but it’s certainly strong. Primary audio on the 4K disc is reference quality, presented in English Dolby Atmos format.
“It’s a roomy but muscular mix, with plenty of dynamic bluster, strong low frequency heft and punch, and lots of smooth and lively panning.”
