New to Blu: March 28-April 3

Only two movies are being released this week on Blu-ray — and they’re as different as cats and dogs: one is kid-friendly, the other adults-only.

The Inbetweeners Movie is spun off the TV series and comes to Blu-ray with an exclusive extended version.

The disc’s R16 rating is the same as the movie’s whereas in Britain the extended version’s inclusion led to the Blu-ray being rated the equivalent of R18 when the theatrical release was R15.

Online reviews are scarce but Blu-ray.com, based on five user reviews, rates the video, audio and extras at 4/5.

Similarly, Blu-ray reviews of Red Dog are hard to find because the Australian family movie has been released on disc only across the Tasman.

MichaelDVD.com rated the DVD video 4/5 and commented: “The colour is very good for DVD and this film must look marvellous on Blu-ray.”

The movie was a big hit in Oz but wasn’t the same box office sensation here.
