New to Blu: March 4 – 10
Frozen II
➢ “The high dynamic range tweaks are often mesmerising as in the case of the incredibly vibrant blue sky, the crisp orange and reds of leaves ready to drop on a fall day, the pink and purple flames from a fiery salamander and the multicoloured light reflecting off of ice and snow crystals.” — Washington Times.
➢ “As good as Frozen II looks in 1080p, the Ultra HD rendering, while not heads and shoulders above it, takes it to another level, entirely, making for a visually engaging and pleasing video presentation … While this is not what I would regard as an aggressive Atmos mix, it is an active one.” — AVS Forum.
➢ “Frozen II‘s Blu-ray transfer barely needs a review. There’s not a digital misstep to be found. No compression issues, no source wonkiness, nothing. It’s clear as a bell and detailed to 1080p perfection. The image is sparkling and clear, robust throughout whether in character close-up or in broad vistas around the lands.” — Blu-ray.com.
● Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is using Frozen II’s release on 4K-UHD to re-issue in 2060p Wall E, Up, The Jungle Book (2016), Beauty & the Beast (2017), Monsters Inc, Monsters University and A Bug’s Life. These are all $35 single-disc releases, without the Blu-ray copies and extras — whereas the US “collector’s editions” with both the 4K and Blu-ray discs plus digital copy sell for $US40.
