New to Blu: October 22-28
Ahead of next month’s release of the series on DVD comes the Blu-ray of the theatrical edit of The Trip to Italy.
The Italian scenery dazzles in high definition and the Blu-ray includes an illuminating Q&A half-hour that was recorded after one of the film’s British screenings.
The sequel isn’t as much fun as The Trip, in which Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon first hit the road ostensibly to review restaurants for The Observer.
But it’s superior fare to the rest of the week’s mostly obscure Blu-ray newcomers:
- Blended (“bright and detailed“)
- A Belfast Story (“clarity and image depth are excellent“)
- Sharknado 2: The Second One (“proficient but rather flat”)
- Banshee Chapter
- Child of God
- Savannah
- Canopy
- Iceman
- Attack on Titan Collection 2
Also new are Lang Lang at the Royal Albert Hall and Steven Spielberg Director’s Collection Box Set.

Watched the TV version and it was fine but did drag a bit. Maybe the tighter editing of a condensed version is an improvement?
