New to Disney+ in April

Disney+ will add a slew of classic movies next month, including Heat, JFK, L.A. Confidential, The King of Comedy, Natural Born Killers and Once Upon a Time in America.

Also new will be some notable series from the Disney-owned FX stable – Feud: Bette and JoanMrs. AmericaWhat We Do in the ShadowsBaskets, Devs – that first screened on SoHo and four original movies to mark Earth Day on April 22.

Watch also for true-crime documentary newcomer Captive Audience, a three-part Hulu series in which the children of Steven Stayner investigate his notorious abduction as a seven-year-old in 1972.

“What appears to separate this series apart from the crowded genre is how the media influences the public’s perception of a case like this,” Collider said.

“How the media picks and chooses what they cover which results in many lasting side effects, for better and for worse.”

While these additions will add heft to the Disney+ library, flagship premieres are limited to the Kardashians’ latest series and Better Nate Than Never, an original movie about a 12-year-old with big Broadway dreams.

According to Variety, there will be two 20-episode Kardashian seasons, “a reality series that feels like a premium version (read: more expensive) of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The family also has an option for future projects within the Disney umbrella.

“Visually, The Kardashians is presented more documentary style, with scene openers shot overhead with drones. In true Kardashian fashion, the series doesn’t hold back on delving into the real-life tabloid sagas, including Kim’s public divorce with Kanye West and her new relationship with SNL regular Pete Davidson.”

WOW, some great shows and movies coming in April. I really love Disney+ ?

  2. Philip – are you able to reach out to Disney and ask why Devs was not added to the service last week? It’s showing on the AU version.

  3. I imagine it will be because Sky still has the rights in this market. Will see what I can find out …

  4. It was removed off Neon last month – hoping it’s an error as other FX shows have remained on Neon while they went up on Disney Plus (What We do in the Shadows is still up).

  5. Hey, Sam, Disney+ says Devs is still coming but no ETA yet.

  6. Hi Philip, Any chance you can ask Disney PR when Devs and Mrs America is coming? They still have not shown up in NZ yet 🙁

  7. I’ve asked repeatedly, Sam, but still not had a response.
