New to Disney+ in April

We Were the Lucky Ones (April 17) is based on Georgia Hunter’s novel but was inspired by the incredible true story of one Jewish family separated at the start of World War II.

The limited series follows them across continents as they do everything in their power to survive and reunite. Reads the blurb:

We Were the Lucky Ones demonstrates how in the face of the twentieth century’s darkest moment, the human spirit can endure and even thrive. The series is a tribute to the triumph of hope and love against all odds.

Early reviews have acclaimed the drama, which so far has scored a 100% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Devastating, and profoundly moving, We Were the Lucky Ones illustrates the scope of World War II, the inhumanity of others and the anguish of disconnection and loss,” declared Variety.

Echoed The Hollywood Reporter: “So overwhelming is its sense of heart that it’s able to propel the series past some noticeable unevenness, all the way toward a finish that merits the tears it gets.”

And if you wondered on which network one of the year’s biggest new hits would wind up, Tracker is going straight to Disney+ from April 3.
