New to Disney+ in April

Next month Disney+ will add David E Kelley’s latest dramedy, Big Shot, launch season two of Solar Opposites, catch up with US broadcasts of Big Sky and go behind the scenes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which has become the platform’s most streamed series premiere.

Big Shot (weekly from April 16) stars John Stamos a hot-headed men’s basketball coach ousted from the National Collegiate Athletic Association who winds up coaching teenagers at an elite girls’ school. Reads the blurb:

He soon learns that the teenage players require empathy and vulnerability — foreign concepts for the stoic Coach Korn (John Stamos). By learning how to connect with his players, Marvyn starts to grow into the person he’s always hoped to be. The girls learn to take themselves more seriously, finding their footing both on and off the court.

S2 of the animated Solar Opposites will stream weekly from April 9 and episode two of Marvel Studios: Assembled on April 30 will explore the making of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Other highlights will include the National Geographic Earth Day special Secrets of the Whales (April 22), the premiere of Nat Geo series Earth Moods (April 16) and the streaming debut of Genius: Aretha (April 30), which premieres this week on Sky’s Nat Geo channel.

ABC’s resumption of Big Sky’s first season in the US on April 13 coincides with Disney+ reaching episode 10 as well and there also will be season premieres of Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 (both of which can be streamed on TVNZ OnDemand), Bob’s Burgers and Grown-ish.
