New to Disney+ in December

Disney+ will be hoping lightning strikes more than once with its adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians (December 20).

The eight-part demigod dramatisation is reportedly faithful to the the first book in the series, The Lightning Thief, setting up expectations the show will run for five seasons and possibly spawn two sequel series — to create another Disney+ universe in the vein of Marvel and Star Wars.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny finally lands on December 1 while three more Doctor Who specials stream December 3 (Wild Blue Yonder), December 10 (The Giggle) and December 26 (The Church on Ruby Road).

Other highlights include: The Mill (December 1), a Hulu thriller about a businessman who mysteriously wake soup in an open-air prison cell; a short film dramatisation of Frederick Forsyth’s The Shepherd starring John Travolta (December 1); the female orchestra conductors competition Maestra (December 9); Korean melodrama Tell Me That You Love Me (December 4); and Italian miniseries Raffa (December 27).
